Howell (MA, Fuller Seminary, MA/PhD, Washington University in St. Louis) is Professor of Anthropology at Wheaton College, in Wheaton, IL where he has taught since 2001. He is the author of Short Term Mission: An Ethnography of Christian Travel Narrative and Experience (IVPAcademic, 2012), as well as a textbook on anthropology (Introducing Cultural Anthropology: A Christian Perspective [Baker Academic 2019]), and books and articles on Christianity in the Philippines, anthropological research, and race in the United States. He lives in Wheaton with his wife, Marissa. They have three adult children of whom they are very proud.
